ARDC has formed another partnership with public health professionals to provide technical planning assistance nine communities in the Arrowhead Region as part of a Region-wide State Health Improvement Program(SHIP) grant.
The Minnesota Department of Health has awarded the Carlton-Lake-Cook-St Louis Community Health Board (CHB) with a two year grant to implement five interventions in the seven county region with the aim towards MDH overall goal of helping Minnesotans live longer, better, healthier lives by reducing the burden of chronic disease. ARDC is providing technical assistance for the Active Communities Intervention. Below are the five interventions the CHB will work on over the next two years . 1. Active Communities 2. School Health Policies 3. Tobacco Free Campuses and Cessation Services 4. Breastfeeding Policies in healthcare systems 5. Worksite Wellness Program ACTIVE COMMUNITIES INTERVENTION To implement policies and practices that create active communities by increasing opportunities for non-motorized transportation (walking and biking) and access to community recreation facilities.
