Duluth Community-wide Local Energy Action Plan (LEAP)

| The next public meeting for the Duluth LEAP plan will be held on: Tuesday, January 29th at the Duluth Transit Authority office, located at 2402 West Michigan Street. Energy sector groups will review and discuss the drafted Goals, Strategies and Action Steps for each energy sector prior to submittal to the City of Duluth administration for review. Meeting times are as follows: 10am - 12pm Residential and Transportation Energy Sectors 1pm - 3pm Public and Commercial/Industrial Energy Sectors Click HERE for a draft excerpt of the materials for public review and discussion. | About the Duluth LEAP Planning Process
|
 Duluth’s LEAP will be developed using a community-based engagement process, guided by an Arrowhead Regional Development Commission planner who will facilitate planning activities and meetings. Community members will be engaged in an energy visioning session and strategy planning meetings co-lead by an Energy Leadership Team made up of energy leaders and key stakeholders in the Duluth Community. LEAP planning will identify short and long term goals, strategies, and actions for four energy sectors; Residential, Commercial & Industrial, Public (local, area county and state government units, schools and higher education) and Transportation. The overall goal for developing and implementing a community-wide energy plan is to move Duluth toward becoming a more secure, more vibrant economy and a more prosperous community. One path to achieve these ends is by reducing reliance on fossil fuels, reducing energy use in buildings, manufacturing processes, transportation and in other measurable energy uses. The City’s long-standing goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions will be a natural outcome of achieving energy use reduction targets. | Public Planning Meetings

| Good planning depends upon good community participation, and we invite YOU to participate! All planning sessions will be open meetings to encourage community participation throughout the process. Followiing is a list of upcoming meetings that are open to the public. This section will be updated reguarly with new postings and meeting summaries: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH Title: Public Energy Visioning Engagement Meeting Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Location: Lake Superior College, Building S, Room 2964 Description: What is your Energy Vision for the Duluth Community? for Residential Energy use, Commercial and Industrial Energy use, Public entity (schools, government) energy, and for Transportation? During this interactive meeting attendees will learn about the Duluth LEAP planning process, hear updates on past/current energy projects and progress, learn how to get involved, and share specific thoughts on the future of energy in Duluth as the Energy Leadership Team works to form a guiding Energy Vision for the plan. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5TH Title: LEAP Vision Statement Development - JOIN the discussion with the Energy Leadership Team Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Location: Ecolibrium3, 2304 West Superior Street Description: This is an open session where the Energy Leadership Team and participants will review and discuss the ideas and comments from the Sept. 17th session.
